About ERRO Grupo
ERRO Grupo was founded in March 2001 on the island of Florianopolis, Brazil. ERRO was born out of the insistence to research art as an intervention in people’s everyday lives through interdisciplinary concepts and was created to deepen the artistic union between the performers, public spaces, and art in routine life. ERRO has participated in some of the most important cultural events in Brazil and has performed in more than eleven states throughout the country.
About Adelaide Fontana
Adelaide Fontana was a radio broadcaster who was fired after twenty five years. Free to finally be herself during her last show, she decided to say everything she could not say to her listeners and tell the truth about all the lies she had to tell. The performance was adapted by Christiano Scheiner from the play A Rainha da Rádio by the author José Saffioti Filho.
Adelaide Fontana was first presented in 2001 for the theater under the direction of Marcia Nunes. In 2002 Pedro Bennaton became the director and took it from the stage to the inside of a shop window. It soon opened before a wider audience: the street. The objective was to interfere with the urban scenery and question the means of delivering art in the twenty-first century. Through the use of the shop window, the performance changes the relationship between art and product. Reutilizing the space provokes a metamorphosis of the commercialized shop window, not only changing the way it is used, but also changing the perception of those who watch because there is no need to buy anything. They simply have to look, feel, and experience.
Now in its sixth year, Adelaide Fontana has been performed all over Brazil, including a tour throughout the country in 2004, and it was invited to be a part of The 2005 International Performing Arts Festival of São José do Rio Preto.
