Las Manitas will be hosting an exhibition of photography by 4 year old students from Escuelita del Alma Learning Center. The exhibit will be up from September 16 th - October 15 th . The opening reception will be a Diez y Seis de Septiembre celebration on Friday, September 16 th from 6-8 pm. The reception will also feature a performance by Mexican classical guitarist Buzz Guerra.
Escuelita del Alma is a daycare and learning center located in downtown Austin. It was epened in 2000 with an emphasis on bilingual education. Last year the 4 year old students were given one time use disposable Kodak cameras. Under the direction of photographers Sallie Burchett and Sean Moran, they went to One Congress Plaza where they took pictures of the scenery, each other, and anything else that caught their eye. Each photo offers a unique perspective that can only be seen through children's eyes.
