The American Friends Service Committee-Austin and La Peña present the "Women and Fair Trade" sale on Friday, November 19th and Saturday, November 20th.
Non-profit cooperatives/organizations, including Colores del Pueblo, Fuerza Unida, Dignity & Justice Maquiladora and the Hebron Embroidery Project are all fair trade organizations that work to support craft and agricultural cooperatives in Latin American, Palestine, and the U.S. Their products include beautiful handmade crafts, toys, pottery, jewelry, clothing and textiles. Your holiday purchases provide income and empowerment to artisans who are committed to improving their lives and communities through cooperative effort.
In addition to offering their crafts for sale, the women of these organizations, all of whom have been affected by globalization processes, will be presenting on their personal experiences with Free and Fair Trade on the evening of Friday, November 19 at 7:00 pm and the morning of Saturday, November 20 at 10:00 a.m.
The sale is sponsored by the American Friends Service Committee (AFSC), a Quaker organization supported by people of various faiths who are committed to social justice, peace and humanitarian service.
