"Festival de las Plantas" at the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado
River Park
and at Las Manitas Avenue Cafe, 211 Congress Avenue.

Austin celebrates the grand opening of the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Park with the first annual Festival de las Plantas. La Peña Gallery and Las Manitas Avenue Cafe are sponsors of this event in the Montopolis Neighborhood. In addition to sponsoring the event, we will also be presenting an exhibition of artwork.
La Pena and Las Mantas were happy to work with and present artwork from students of Allison, Sanchez, Metz, Allan, and Zavala Elementary Schools. The goal of the festival is to heighten awareness of the natural beauty of the Colorado River Park. The theme of the children’s artwork focuses on people and their relationship with nature, and with plants in particular. We hope that the exhibition of student artwork will help increase public awareness of the festival and the park.
The student’s artwork will be on display throughout the day of the festival on Saturday, October 18th. The event will last from 9am to 5pm. Also, Las Manitas will be hosting an exhibit of the artwork throughout the rest of the month.
