In conjunction with the third annual Festival de las Plantas, La Peña is once again sponsoring an exhibit of children's artwork from East Austin elementary schools. The schools participating are Allan, Metz, Sanchez, and Zavala Elementary schools. The students' artwork will be on display throughout the day at the festival on Saturday, October 15 th at the Montopolis Youth Sports Complex at the Roy G. Guerrero Colorado River Park. Then, select pieces from each school will be on display at Las Manitas Avenue Café from October 19th through November 30th . La Peña and Las Manitas were happy to work with students of Sanchez, Metz, Allan, and Zavala Elementary Schools again. The goal of the festival is to heighten awareness of the natural beauty of the Colorado River Park. The theme of the children's artwork focuses on people and their relationship with nature, with plants in particular.
