La Peña presents the art exhibition “Dimensiones” by Miguel Angel Santana. It will be on display at La Peña’s gallery space in Downtown Austin from June 11th thru July 2nd. A reception will be taking place on Friday, June 18th from 6:00 – 8:00 pm.

Miguel Angel Santana was born in Monterrey, Nuevo Leon, Mexico in 1973. He showed an interest in drawing from an early age and attended his first workshop at six-years-old. He went on to study drawing and graphic arts at Instituto Profesional de Arte y Diseño MACREL (Professional Institute of Art and Design MACREL) and earned a bachelor’s degree in advertising from the College of Communication Sciences at the Universidad Autonoma de Nuevo Leon (Autonomous University of Nuevo Leon). He has worked as an illustrator and graphic designer for various companies and has been raising community awareness about fine arts via introductory arts classes since 1997, including some recently at La Peña.

Santana has had the opportunity to combine art, advertising, and design for numerous projects including murals and political/social satire cartoons. Since 2005 his work has gone through a transition from a figurative style to a more abstract style, which has culminated in his latest collection “Dimensiones”.
