On Friday, March 18th, La Peña is presenting a Latin musical event on the streets of Congress Avenue. Performing on the sidewalk in front of La Peña Gallery starting at 6 pm is Pati Alaya McLean and Crash! Bam! Boom! As a part of Women’s History Month, this will celebrate the rich culture of Latino music right in the middle of downtown Austin just in time for South by Southwest.
Pati Ayala-McLean was born in Mexico City; she is the lead singer for Pati McLean and Crash! Bam! Boom! At the tender age of eight, she gave her first public performance singing Mexican romantic songs. As a teenager, she appeared on a national television show, Siempre en Domingo.” Throughout her singing carrier, Pati has learned a variety of music styles and performed with numerous bands from Mexico and the US. She moved to Austin, Texas in 1990. Pati McLean and Crash! Bam! Boom! A five-piece Austin-based band was formed in 1996 they compose their own music.
