Toma Mi Corazón XI is the much-anticipated annual fundraiser for La Peña Latino Arts in Austin. For the past ten years La Peña has been sending 8-inch wooden hearts to artists, dignitaries, and local school children to decorate them as they wish. The decorated hearts are then auctioned off during a silent auction at La Peña. Enjoy dinner and drinks at Las Manitas Avenue Cafe, music by Pati Ayala McLean and band, and Mariachi Jalisco. The auction will include original heart creations by Blas E. Lopez, Alfonso Huerta, Juan Salvador, Sabrina Zarco, and Francisco Letelier. Proceeds from the sale of the hearts are used to support La Peña's multidisciplinary arts programming in the community, the emerging artists series, and the literary workshops (Floricanto) at Gardner Betts Juvenile Justice Center. Toma Mi Corazón is an event for everyone to have fun, view some beautiful works of art, mingle with artists, and support La Peña at the same time.
