La Vida es una Lotería
2023
Medium: Assemblage

The inspiration came from the curio cabinet which reminded me of a Loteria game card. I assembled the pieces from ephemera collected through the years.
Art feeds the soul, touches the heart and enriches the mind, and hopefully inspires the artist in all of us.

A woman finding a balance between the pressure of society and the untamed wilderness in her.
I am exploring what the term “woman” means to me. Art and nature have become a medium to break old patterns, and not conform to social norms.

Acrylic on canvas and wood

This is an invitation to explore female gender role expectations by raising topics regarding both social and internal pressures related to the perception of women throughout time. This work aims to act as a magnifying glass looking at the under-appreciation of women that pierces through an almost impeccable facade. The central idea is a dialogue between the not-always-positive-self-talk among one´s inner voices.
The voices that permute with each role, the daughter, the mother, the sister, the friend, the girlfriend, wife, co-worker and boss. All while maintaining this ambivalent image of fragility and wholeness. The piece hopes to overwhelm the observer in search of understanding.

Neon Glow Body
Medium: Acrylic on Canvas
Dimensions: 8"x10"

I've always been inspired by the female figure... How could you not be? This painting is a self-portrait that glows under a black light.

Painting and dancing are two art forms that allow me to easily get into a flow state. I love that painting requires equal parts of the left brain and right brain. For me, painting is both a meditation and a workout for the mind :)
