of Imaginary Cities
June 5 - July 1, 2021 The Art of Fernando Muñoz "Of Imaginary Cities" is a voyage through the art and imagination of Fernando Muñoz as he experiments with different mediums such as acrylics, watercolors, printmaking, and illustration. This exhibition allows you to explore his most recurrent themes—solitude, melancholy, and the search for belonging. |
The students were introduced to the Amate and Otomi pattern of Mexico. They were inspired by the colors, symbols, animals, and patterns to them to create their own amate paintings. We learned that the amate paintings were created to communicate with others. They were a way to pass down stories to future generations. Students drew their designs on brown paper to resemble the amate bark paper. They used acrylic paint, pastel, and colored pencil to add detail and color.
